IEA Region 67 Call for Nominations:

Nominations are now being accepted for delegates to the 2019 IEA Representative Assembly, held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare Hotel, Rosemont, IL,  April 10-13, 2019.

Nominations are due November 12, 2018 by noon. Please check out the IEA-RA pages on ieanea.org, including a video about attending the RA:https://ieanea.org/events/iea-representative-assembly/

The debates and decisions made by the assembled delegates set the direction of IEA for the coming year.

Locals within the region are entitled to send the following number of delegates: 

City Colleges of Chicago (CCCLOC) – 4; 

Columbia College (USofCC), clustered with Region 67 Miscellaneous Members – 2; 

Morton Community College (MCAFA) – 1; 

Roosevelt University (RAFO) – 2; 

Triton Community College (TCAFA) – 1; 

 

Nominations for the region-wide ethnic minority delegate are also being accepted.

General procedures

Nominations are due by November 12, 2018, at 12:00 pm.  

Only written or e-mail nominations will be accepted. 

Nominations must include the information requested on the nomination form. 

 

Nominations should be sent to the IEA Region 67 Election Committee, P.O. Box 246, Chicago, IL 60690-0246; or be sent by e-mail to:  region67elections@yahoo.com.

Active members in good standing for the 2018-2019 school year are eligible to make nominations and to be nominated.  Self-nominations are permitted.  For Region 67 members who belong to more than one local, the local from which IEA-NEA dues are collected is considered your primary local.

Although the election committee has prepared a form (below) for submitting nominations, use of the form is not mandatory.

Written nominations, whether mailed to the Region 67 Elections Committee Post Office Box or emailed to region67elections@yahoo.com, must include the name and contact information, including telephone and personal e-mail, of both the nominator and the nominee.  Nominations must also identify which Region 67 local IEA-NEA association where the nominator and nominee are members. Nominators should contact their nominee in advance of submitting a nomination to verify her or his willingness and availability to serve as a delegate for the entire meeting.

The Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959, as Amended, requires that the union use member’s home addresses during the course of the election process.  IEA Region 67 members should ensure that their most recent home address is on file with the union.

Delegates to the 2019 IEA Representative Assembly

Locals within Region 67 are entitled to the number of delegates listed above.  Successor delegates will be determined by the order of votes received after the winning delegates are designated.

The IEA RA will be held the evening of Wednesday, April 10th through Saturday, April 13th at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, IL.

  • Delegates are expected to arrive at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare hotel in order to register the evening of Wednesday, April 10th, and attend all assembly events beginning the morning of Thursday, April 11th.
  • Delegates should expect to stay until the R.A. concludes on April 13th.
  • Delegates are expected to attend any Region or Higher Ed caucus meetings and to be on the floor of the RA during all business meetings.  A tentative agenda for the meeting will be distributed by the region and posted at ieanea.org  prior to the meeting.
  • Region 67 will hold a briefing for delegates prior to the RA.
  • Delegates attending the IEA-RA will receive reimbursement from the region for approved lodging at the convention hotel, mileage, meals not otherwise provided, and other related convention expenses (e.g. taxis).

All active members in good standing for the 2017-18 school year as of November 1, 2018 at 5:00 pm will be mailed a ballot.

·     Election date:  December 10, 2018 — Ballots due 12:00 Noon at IEA Region 67 Election
